Who can stream to X with an RTMP key
At the time of writing, streaming to X from an external tool is tied to a paid subscription. X's help center lists Media Studio as a feature for verified Premium and Premium+ subscribers, not Basic. Access to X's newer Live Studio can also vary by account type and region, so check the Premium help page for your account before planning a broadcast.
Live Studio has replaced Media Studio Producer
In mid-2026 X introduced Live Studio inside Creator Studio as the replacement for Media Studio Producer. To get your stream details:
- 01Open Live Studio from Creator Studio, under Tools.
- 02Create a new livestream and add a source. You choose a name and an ingest region.
- 03Copy the RTMP URL and stream key. X also shows an RTMPS URL for an encrypted connection.
X allows one live stream per source, so create a separate source for each broadcast you run at the same time.
How long an X broadcast can run
According to X's Live Studio help page, each livestream can run for up to 24 hours. If the incoming signal stops, the livestream times out and has to be created again. For a channel that should stay on longer than a day, create a new livestream when the previous one ends and update the key in StreamHouse. Your playlist and settings stay as they are.

Stream only content you own or have the rights to, and make it clear in your post when a broadcast is a replay. X enforces copyright, and streams with content you don't have rights to can be removed.
Settings for X
X's Live Studio recommends H.264 video at up to 1080p and 60 fps around 12 Mbps, AAC audio at 128 kbps, and a keyframe every 3 seconds. StreamHouse's 720p and 1080p presets are well within those limits, and because every video is prepared to one encode profile ahead of time, the bitrate stays steady between videos.
