Recording protection

Keep a replay past YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit

YouTube only saves a live stream as a video when it runs for less than 12 hours — so a 24/7 stream never gets a replay. Pick an hour from 1 to 11 (6 by default) and StreamHouse ends the first broadcast there so YouTube saves it, then carries on in a new one without restarting the video feed.

  • Yes. YouTube lets you go live with pre-recorded content as long as you own it or have the rights to it, and it follows YouTube’s Community Guidelines. StreamHouse streams it through your own channel, either via the YouTube Live Streaming API or via YouTube’s RTMP ingest with your stream key.

  • Open YouTube Studio, verify your channel with a phone number and request live streaming. The first time, YouTube can take up to 24 hours to switch it on. A channel with a live streaming restriction in the last 90 days has to wait for it to end.

  • No. Sign in with Google and StreamHouse creates the YouTube broadcast for you through the YouTube API, so there is no key to copy. If you would rather set up the event in YouTube Studio, you can paste a stream key instead.

  • No. Your videos are uploaded once and the stream runs on StreamHouse servers. You can shut down your computer and the channel stays live. OBS is still the better tool if you want a webcam, scenes or live overlays — StreamHouse plays video files.
